Head coach, B Grade, U13 & U15

I am currently working through the Elite level of Coaching Accreditation, though this has been delayed with COVID. I began coaching at club level and have had quite a variety of coaching opportunities over the years including Junior Representative teams, VNL Development teams, VNL Division 1, SEFNL Open Interleague, Melbourne University Intervarsity team, Lead Coach at Netball Vic’s Eastern Academy and coach of the Indigenous team at Worowa College in Healesville and currently Head Coach and U23 Coach at Gippsland Stars. I have also participated in and been a coach presenter at Netball Vic’s Game Development Conference. I have been Head Coach at PLNC for the past 8 years and coached across Juniors and Seniors. I’m really looking forward to seeing every one of our 10 teams play strong, skilled competitive netball and enjoy their own success on and off the court in 2026.

Matt – A Grade & U17 Gold

I have been coaching the netball club for over 16 plus years. I have been involved in the VNL Dev squads and was appointed as the coordinator of the Jets Junior VNL program in 2015 while continuing as an apprentice coach with the VNL Championship team.

In 2018 I was appointed Head Coach of a U19 VNL Wilson Storage Southern Saints team together with coaching B Grade and U17 Red teams at PLNC. I also took on a coaching position with the Netball Victoria Central East Talent Academy Program in in 2019. In 2020 I became Head Coach of the VNL Division 1 Wilson Storage Southern Saints and Head Coach for the Vic Men’s Association Mixed Open team. I was appointed Australian Mixed Open Coach in 2022, a position I still hold.  This is my 8th year coaching both U17 and A Grade at Pakenham.  I have my Netball Australia Advanced Coaching Accreditation and am currently appointed Head Coach for the Peninsula Waves Championship team. 

Carly – C Grade

I have played Saturday Netball since U/13s. I love everything about it, traveling to other clubs, playing in all weather conditions and how competitive each game is. 

I have been fortunate to be a part of this great club for the past 11 years as a senior player, and this is my fourth season coaching in our Outer East League. 

I have also had the privilege of being in various leadership roles for our club including our 2018-2019 Club Captain, previous A Grade Captain and previous B Grade Captain. I played in our 2019 B Grade Premiership Team & more recently coached and played in our 2025 C Grade Premiership Team. 

I believe the key to being successful is communication, consistency, trust and teamwork. I am proud of all amazing things we are achieving here at Pakenham and very grateful to be working alongside our amazing senior coaches for another season. 

I am excited to be back in the role of player/coach again for our 2026 C Grade Team and can’t wait to see what the season brings!

Lori Walker- C Grade – Assistant Coach

I began playing with Pakenham Lions Netball Club as junior in the late 80’s, my entire playing career being with the club.  I was lucky enough to have played all grades available through those years U 15’s through to A Grade and have had the pleasure and privilege of being involved in both junior and senior premiership sides also representing the club at inter league level.  In my last few years of playing with the Pakenham Lions Netball Club, I was lucky enough to play, coach and be part of the committee whilst the club rebuilt after our move to the Mornington Peninsular Nepean League.  Over the years I have rejoined the netball world through my children and have been given the opportunity to Head coach the Pakenham Lions Netball Club stadium program, which I have enjoyed immensely.  As a coach in 2026 I hope to learn as much as I pass on.  I believe being part of a successful netball team is not just about what you do each week on the court, it is about training, relationships, the club, the supporters and so much more.  I want to bring all the knowledge I have collected over the years and contribute to bigger and better things for our great club.       

Caity – D Grade

I’ve been playing netball since I was 7 or so years old, beginning all the way back at net set go! Currently I’m a championship VNL player for Peninsula Waves and I have been a part of the Victorian and Australian Mixed netball side in recent years.

I came to Paky in 2017 and I have never looked back, loving every moment from 17s to A grade!

My second ACL injury a couple of years ago put me out of playing for 18 months, which led me to the opportunity to include coaching in my netball repertoire, and I love it! 

I’m so excited to be back on board with D grade this year, this group of girls has the potential to do anything they put their minds to, and I can’t wait to see how it all folds out on court!’

Bree –D Grade

I have been playing netball for as long as I can remember, and very early on took a liking to     

helping my team mates and helping the younger girls around me. Taking a break from the court myself the last few years has meant I could really lean into and prioritise my coaching roles most recently coaching at Gippsland Storm. Having grown up as a local to the Pakenham netball club I have always admired the camaraderie and sportsmanship the club has shown, so to now be experiencing it myself and able to help further develop one of their teams brings me a lot of pride. I have a lot of faith in the team we have selected this year and think this group of ladies has great potential to go all the way.

Emma – U17 Gold

I have been playing for PLNC since I was 11 years old. I was selected into Netball Victoria’s Central East Talent Academy at 16 and commenced by VNL journey with Wilson Storage Southern Saints in 2016. I played across development, U19’s and division 1 with the club until 2019. I played at Melbourne University Lightning in their open development squad from 2020-2022. I have coached for PLNC across the junior and senior groups and achieved my Netball Victoria Intermediate coaching accreditation in 2024. Off the court I am a physiotherapist at Monash Health. In 2026 I am looking forward to continuing to work with Matt Cooke to develop the next generation of Senior players for our club with the talented U17 Gold team.

Hayley – U17's Maroon

I started playing with PLNC in 2013 in the U15s. I progressed to play for storm,

Pakenham Power and Eastern Zone Academy.  I was part of the winning Premiership B Grade team in 2019 and achieved Goal Shooter of the Year AFLOE 2019, 2021 & 2022, PLNC Audrey Tyrrell Goaler of the Year 2021 & 2022.

I began coaching in 2015 in the stadium program and in our outer east program on a Saturday. I have coached for PLNC across the junior age groups and have my netball Victoria development level coaching accreditation. I love coaching because there is nothing better than the feeling of seeing your team improve their skills and develop their talent throughout the season and I hope that they players have fun and continue to grow important connects along the way.

As I head into the 2026 season, I’m excited to continue my coaching journey at PLNC by empowering players to take ownership of their development, make confident decisions on court, and build strong fundamentals, game sense and high-performance habits. I aim to create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged and heard, encouraging growth in confidence, connection and enjoyment while working collaboratively to lift individual and team performance, and I’m especially excited to work alongside Matt, Emma and Kelly in the U17 age group throughout the season.

Kelly Cousins - U17 Maroon Assistant

I started my netball career when I was 9 years old and I haven’t stopped playing since!! 

I only began playing netball at Pakenham in 2024 but once I stepped into this beautiful club environment I knew I was immediately at home.

I currently play in our Saturday A Grade side and I have prior rep and U/19’s VNL experience!! 

This is my first-year coaching EVER, but I am excited that I have the opportunity to do that at Pakenham and I am looking forward to getting to know the team and also working alongside Hayley!! Can’t wait to see the journey these girls can go on and all of the success they will be able to achieve when they put their minds to 

Eliza – U15’s Maroon

After my friend and I convinced my mum to let me play netball, I started playing with school friends at age 7. I immediately loved the game and that was the beginning of my netball journey. I began playing for Pakenham in the stadium and then on Saturdays as a 11-year-old in 2017. I was fortunate enough to be a premiership player in 2019 in under 13’s and now after 7 years of juniors am in the A grade team.

Currently I also play for North East Blaze in the VNL and lucky enough to be the 23 & U captain. I have been fortunate enough that over the last 4 years I’ve represented Victoria at nationals which earnt me scholarships at the Victorian institute of sports from 2023-2025.

This year I have commenced a new role of coaching which is at Hallam Secondary College. I’m really excited to embark on this new journey as it will allow me to push myself more in my coaching and take more responsibilities and develop my coaching.

I’m very excited to be heading into my second year as a coach at Pakenham and I’m excited to be working alongside Karen and learning from her. I’m looking forward to working with this amazing group of 15’s and being part of their development and achievements over the season. 

Katie – U15’s Gold

Katie has been coaching in our midweek stadium program for the past 10 years and Outer East program for the past 5 years.  Katie away from netball is a teacher. She is very passionate about her coaching, appreciating how extremely important quality

coaching like education can be for a player in assisting them to improve & develop to be their best. Katie commenced playing with PLNC in U13s & played Representative netball. Along Katie’s netball journey she has been coached by very experienced/ knowledgeable coaches. She is part of the 2026 B Grade team.  Katie is thrilled this year to be team coach alongside Kasey the U15 Gold team this year, and can’t wait for their journey together. 

Kasey Holland- U15’s Gold

In the year 2000 I began my netball journey with the Pakenham Lions Netball Club. Throughout my eleven seasons as a senior player, I competed in the West Gippsland Football Netball League and the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football Netball League. I was a proud A Grade player and captain who earned the opportunity to represent our club in Interleague teams. My sporting highlights included winning an A Grade Premiership in 2004 and being named in the PLNC Team of 2005-2015.

In 2020, our daughter Larnie began playing for PLNC in the U9s mid-week stadium competition. I volunteered as Team Manager and then began coaching her teams. Fast forward five years and I’m now part of the coaching team for U15 Gold.

This season I aim to help develop each player’s skills, understanding of the game and hope their passion for netball continues to grow. Playing sport is a great opportunity for our players to also learn lessons about life – kindness, humility, hard work, being a team player and supporting their peers. Let’s make 2026 a memorable season filled with growth, teamwork, and plenty of smiles!

Gabbie – 13's Blue

I began my netball journey with the club when I was 10 years old, playing right through

juniors and up to seniors. I unfortunately suffered a car accident which stopped me playing but I dipped my toe in the water of coaching. It was an interest, but I managed to focus on getting back to playing before my body said enough is enough. Now I’m proud to be coaching again and wait to share my many years of netball experience and knowledge.

I look forward to working with Katie this year, in supporting the U13 Blue team to seek out a new endeavour in playing at the Waverley Netball Centre. I look forward to showing more of the netball community what our coaching, players, and club culture can bring to the game of netball and letting this shine bright in our new setting

Leigh Mastertoun – 13 White

Leigh grew up in a netball family. His mother and two sisters played since he was in Prep. Leigh started playing netball for various mixed and men’s teams when he was 16.

Leigh started coaching in the PLNC stadium program and has since broadened his coaching knowledge through courses and having been mentored by Lori Walker, Katie Jones and now our Club’s Head Coach, Karen Meredith. Leigh obtained his Netball Australia Development Coach Accreditation in April 2025. I am most excited to see our future senior players take their first steps into Saturday Netball.
