Coaches

Meet our Coaches for 2022:

A Grade & B Grade – Karen
I am currently working through the Elite Level of Coaching Accreditation. Initially I coached at club level and more recently coached Junior Rep teams, VNL Development teams, SEFNL Open Interleague team and Melbourne Uni Intervarsity team. I’m now Head Coach Div 1 at MU Lightning. I am also Lead Coach at Eastern Academy; Head Coach at PLNC; as well as Head Coach Bayside U17s. In 2020 I was invited by Netball Vic to be a co-presenter at their Game Development Conference. I will also be coaching the Open team for Dandenong Valley at State Titles this year. Netball is a real passion for me and I look forward to seeing our wonderful PLNC players out on court in 2022.

A Grade, B Grade & U17 Blue – Matt
I have been coaching club netball for 11 years. I have been involved in the VNL Dev squads and was appointed as the coordinator of the Jets Junior VNL program in 2015 while continuing to apprentice coach with the VNL Championship team.

In 2018 I was appointed Head Coach of a U19 VNL Wilson Storage Southern Saints team together with coaching B Grade and U17 Red teams at PLNC. I also took on a coaching position with the Victoria Talent Academy Program with the Central East Zone in 2019. In 2020 I became Head Coach of the VNL Division 1 Wilson Storage Southern Saints and Head Coach for the Vic Mens Association Mixed Open team. I have my Advanced Coaching Accreditation.

C Grade, D Grade & U15 Blue – Mandy
I played State league, Rep and A Grade netball for 35 years and have coached as a head coach at footy netball clubs across Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula. I have also coached at rep State League and VNL development level and currently coaching Talent Academy. I am absolutely passionate about working with young athletes and I’m looking forward to coaching C grade, working with the athletes, the wonderful committee and supporters and of course Karen and the coaching team.

D Grade Assistant – Alysson
I have played netball since under 9s and have had experience playing at a club, representative and regional level. I represented Henderson region in 2015, played for A grade for 3 years and for Melbourne Uni VNL development squad for 2 years.

During this time I have also had 7 years of experience coaching across a range of club and representative teams. This year will also be my 4th year part of the coaching team at Melbourne Uni where this year will be my first year stepping up as co-coach of the VNL development squad.

Outside of netty I am now a qualified physiotherapist and will be commencing in a full time specialist role this year.

Under 17 White – Hayley
I started playing with PLNC in 2013 in the U15s. I progressed to play for storm, Pakenham Power and Eastern Zone Academy. I moved into PLNC seniors and have been in B grade for the past 3 years.

I began coaching in 2015 and coached 4 stadium teams in total. I then coached the U11s blue who went on to win the 2015 winter premiership and 2016 summer premiership. I have also coached in the Saturday netball competition with the U13 White and U17 White team. I was part of the winning Premiership B Grade team in 2019 and won the AFL Outer East Goaler of the Year for B Grade.

I also achieved Goal Shooter of the Year AFLOE 2021 & PLNC Audrey Tyrrell Goaler of the Year 2021.

Under 17 Blue – Emma

I have been playing for PLNC since I was 11. I have played at association level for Waverley City in U15s and U17s and was selected into Netball Vic’s CE Talent Academy at 16. I transitioned into Wilson Storage Southern Saints Development team and then commenced my Victorian Netball League (VNL) journey. I have played U19s and Division 1 for Wilson Storage Southern Saints in 2017 and 2018 respectively and am now with Melbourne University Lighting in their Open Development squad and am still striving to be the best athlete I can be.

I have coached for PLNC in both U13, U15 and I have my Netball Victoria Development level coaching accreditation.

Under 13 White – Rebecca

Rebecca has extensive experience in playing netball with previous history playing VNL and being apart of Pakenham A-grade side for 4 years. She currently holds her developing coaches accreditation with the hope to upskill during the year. She wishes to share the knowledge that she has gained to help players develop and achieve their netball dreams.

Throughout 2022, Beck will be helping to its both under 13 sides in developing the crucial skills to play at their very best.

Under 15 White – Jess

Jess commenced playing netty as a 7 year old at Catani and has played for Casey NA and Gippsland Storm over her netty journey. Jess was part of our U17 Premiership team in 2000, which she still recalls was one of her best days of her life. Jess continued to play Elite and Footy/ Netball A Grade for many years and commenced her pathway in coaching at both club and representative level. Jess recently has coached in MPNFL and taken 2 U17 teams to back to back premierships.

Jess is passionate about developing young athletes in achieving their netty goals and setting them up with strong foundation of basic skills.

Under 13 Blue Assistant – Katie

Katie coached our 2020 U13 White team and has been coaching in our stadium program for the past few years under the guidance and mentoring of Jen Burridge. Katie is passionate about her coaching, appreciating how extremely important quality coaching can be for a player in assisting them to improve & develop. Katie commenced with PLNC in U13s & played Representative netball with Waverley City Association and Casey Netball Association. For the past 4 year Katie has played with Eastside Netball Club & coached by the very experienced/ knowledgeable Sarah Collett (Vic Vixens, Performance & Pathways Coordinator, past VNL & Vic Academy Coach).

PNLC Fitness Coach – Katrina

Our Strength and Conditioning Coach Katrina is a Personal Trainer and an Accredited qualified Athletics Coach. Our players benefit from her expertise as she is always willingly to assist our players in helping them to be their best. She is keen to discuss their goals and provide them with ideas to continue working on their fitness, strength and conditioning for the 18 round season that they are about to embark on.

During training the team coaches will utilise the training time as players work on skills, game strategies, team play set up, roles and so much more!
